Market Analyses

These exercises are tailored to the client’s business environment and make a valuable contribution to an evidence base supporting the development of recommendations for change.

As a common theme data is sourced to identify the level and characteristics of competition within local and adjacent areas and the extent to which there is scope to capitalise on gaps in provision in the marketplace.

The resultant findings, where appropriate, are weighed and reported upon in the context of local strategies and the views/future intentions of commissioners gained through stakeholder interviews.

Needs & Demand Mapping

Combining desk research findings with detailed surveys usually completed by carers / support workers to establish likely needs, dependencies and scope for independent living.

When working with multi-site organisations this can be particularly valuable in determining future service delivery models.

Quantitative Research

Within the Ridgeway team we have significant research experience developed in a range of sectors.

This includes conducting large and small quantitative surveys via mail, telephone and online.

Also within the team we have the capacity to process and analyse data.

Qualitative Research

Ridgeway specialises in using qualitative research to understand the aspirations, challenges  and satisfaction levels of service users, the perspectives and priorities of commissioners and the views of staff.

Additionally, where possible, we conduct qualitative research to support and enhance findings from quantitative surveys and to test concepts (such as new services).

Field Research

Our approach to field research depends on a range of factors and we consider these carefully before developing a methodology for any project. We have a full range of options at our disposal as shown below:

Concept Testing

Using a combination of our strategic perspective underpinned by research expertise we can assist both providers and commissioners in developing new services.

A flow chart of "concept testing"

Our approach is to take a 360 degree view to understand the implications and challenges of delivering new services. Service offerings need to be realistic in their remit, affordable and designed to effectively meet the needs of those who access them.

The following specific skills contribute to our ability to meet the challenges of new service development:

  • Expertise in demographic profiling
  • Robust research and consultation methodologies
  • The ability to understand strategic priorities
  • A person centred approach to our work

Ridgeway can assist in developing initial templates for a service based upon the feedback from stakeholders and potential service users and, in a second stage, refine the service concept via targeted consultation and / or quantitative surveys including gaining feedback on affordability.
